Tifft Nature Preserve

You never know what will happen! Laurene patiently painted this young man while he patiently fished.  Well, that is always nice, a model that stays still. At least until he caught this fine fish which he did put back.

I sent Anthony this photo on the spot and later sent a picture of Laurene’s watercolor of him. He offered to buy the picture, but Laurene said he could have it. Signed, we mailed it to him and got a nice thank you

Oops, perhaps Roy did this one? I need to post these photos sooner

Laurene’s painting which she gave away.

Rambling paths, a huge pond and lazy creek water, swans and ducks, turtles sunning themselves, graceful willows, boardwalks and trails, picnic benches and shade trees. Did I mention birdsongs? The paintings I have completed at Tifft wind up with titles like “Calm” or “Peace”. It is just plain wonderful, an oasis nestled off Route 5 in South Buffalo.

There are clean outhouses if the visitor center happens to be closed.

Burchfield Nature Center

Tuesday July 6

2001 Union Road, West Seneca

Meet up: 9:30 am

This is another jewel of a park hidden in suburbia. A very short walk takes you to the edge of the very shallow Buffalo River passing between huge trees, a tall wall and paradise. There is a lovely curve in the water and gentle flowing rivulets in one direction, the bridge over Union in the other. Right at the parking lot is a playground, giant rocks and a landscaped (mostly closed) park building. Charles Burchfield home is on the side street there-this was his playground.

Beaver Island Marina is for summer days

Most of us painted in the shade of our cars or near the few shade trees. It was like summer at the beach with a lovely breeze and almost all chose to paint similar views  of this inlet. Liz was sunscreened and hatted, with a lovely painting!

Reinstein and the Lily Pond crowd.

The painters lined the shore at Reinstein Park and captured lily pads, the shore and a lot of attention from the walkers. So nice to be out and about in beautiful late Spring weather

Gathering at lunchtime, there wasn't much room left after collecting most of the paintings for 'sharing  time'.

Bond Lake never fails. Super day.

Serenity and quiet abound at the lakes of Bond Lake park

Lots of visitors at the Botanical Gardens.

Painters, flowers and a few deer as well. Here is a fearless faun.
Painting at the Buffalo Botanical Gardens is quiet and peaceful. Often, the disturbance to that peace is welcome. Donna had a front row seat to a pod of deer, munching their way through her composition. We all  enjoyed nature close up, these deer didn't seem disturbed by our pastel strokes or swishing brushes.

Paulette, who was our host for the day here.
The southern wing of the greenhouses in South Park
Sharon has a nice setup under her car 'umbrella'. We did have a few sprinkles, but this works well in the sun, too.
